Polyester is a tough, versatile fabric. Polyester works well outdoors because it is resistant to stretch, abrasion, mildew/mildew and rot. It is also light and stretchy. Polyester can also have vinyl, which adds to its inherent durability. Solution dyed polyester is particularly suitable for outdoor use - it has excellent UV/sun protection and abrasion resistance. Not to mention, solution-dyed fabrics have a much better environmental impact.

Nylon shares many of the same qualities as polyester, but also has some key differences. One difference is that nylon has excellent abrasion resistance - making it the fabric of choice for military and pet applications. Nylon is indeed one of the most versatile fabrics in the textile industry so it and nylon blends like our stretch woven fabrics have many common outdoor uses such as bags and backpacks, tents, tarps, dog gear and outdoor clothing. They are commonly used in raincoats and camping equipment such as tents and sleeping bags. Kites, parachutes and flags are also often made of ripstop material. Ripstops are easy to identify because they feature a square cross stitch pattern.
